What is Nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology

Have you heard about nanotechnology or the nanotech? Does it sounds unfamiliar with you? What are it's implications and importance towards us? Does it greatly affects our future lives? Well, these questions will be answers then.

Nanotechnology is the study of manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale. It deals with structures sized between 1 to 100 nanometer in at least one dimension, and involves developing materials or devices possessing at least one dimension within that size. It is very diverse, ranging from extensions of conventional device physics to completely new approaches based upon molecular self-assembly, from developing new materials with dimensions on the nano-scale to investigating whether we can directly control matter on atomic scale.
Nanotechnology is significant on account of of its pre- eminence upon the comprehension, use, and control of matter at magnitudes of a minute scale. Nanotechnology may be able to create many new materials and devices with a vast range of applications, such as in health care and medicine, electronics, bio-materials, environment, energy production, information and communication, heavy industry and in production of consumers goods.
While the involvement of nanotechnology has the potential to take several decades, and the early developers are likely to be sizable institutions with great wealth that can produce considerable advancement efforts, in the long term nanotechnology is going to be attainable to a larger variety of people. At this moment in time, now that the importance of nanotechnology is extensively acknowledged, we enter the latest stage of the national debate regarding what programs should we take up to best deal with it. Raised energy proficiency, cleaner surroundings, further productive medical treatment and enhanced fabrication construction are only some of the possible advantages of nanotechnology.
However, development of nanotechnology must be undertaken with care to avoid accidents; once a nanotechnology-based manufacturing technology is created, it must be administered with even more care. Irresponsible use of molecular manufacturing could lead to black markets, unstable arms races ending in immense destruction, and possibly a release of grey goo. Misuse of the technology by inhumane governments, terrorists, criminals, and irresponsible users could produce even worse problems.
From the selection above, we can say that nanotechnology is rampant nowadays which contributed lot of importance and implications towards our lives. It brings gradual changes for the  betterment of everyone of us. But the mere fact is that, it also causes disasters and troubles when it will not used in a proper way. Though, it provides many applications in many fields but too much for these is somehow alarming that calls an attention from us. Knowing its significance and disadvantages, it is in our hands what will be our future is.
Always remember that everything in this world are created to have a purpose, whether for the betterment of everybody or for worse. Sometimes, it contributed advantages in the early years but as time goes by,  in the late years it could be the source of problems and troubles.  It depends on how you made yourself as a better one, as the term Nanotechnology implies.
